Malaysia at the Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (JBMO) 2026

The Malaysian International Mathematical Olympiad Committee is proud to announce Malaysia’s results at the Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (JBMO) 2026, held in Buzău, Romania.

The JBMO is one of the most prestigious international mathematics competitions for lower secondary students, bringing together some of the brightest young mathematicians from across Europe, Asia, and invited guest countries. Contestants are challenged with demanding proof-based problems that require creativity, logical reasoning, and deep mathematical understanding.

This year, Malaysia was represented by six outstanding students:

– Alexander Chew Tian You (Han Chiang High School)

– Benjamin Chew Tian Hong (Han Chiang High School)

– Lai Joe Hern (Oxburgh International School)

– Muhammad Arif Haikal Bin Mohd Afiz (MRSM Kuala Terengganu)

– Aish Faheemy Bin Mohd Redzuan (MRSM Terendak)

– Izz Zulqarnain Bin Mohd Irwan (MRSM Sungai Besar)

In a remarkable achievement, Benjamin and Alexander, who are brothers, both secured Silver Medals for Malaysia.
